In Saturday, 11 mobile phones and three chargers were seized from a subsidiary jail, also known as MLA Hostel, in Srinagar.

As Srinagar reeled under harsh winter conditions, the Jammu and Kashmir administration recently shifted the political prisoners, lodged at Centaur Hotel since August 5, to the MLA Hostel as the facility lacked proper heating arrangements. The police on Saturday confirmed the incident.
"Politicians were shifted from Centaur to a new notified subsidiary jail [sub-jail]. Jail manual was followed and anti-sabotagechecks were done. Eleven mobile phones were seized," Additional Director General Police (ADGP) Law and Order Muneer Khan told."These are periodic routine checks as per the jail manual," Muneer Khan added.
The detained MLAs had alleged that they were manhandled.PeoplesDemocratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti's Twitter handle pushed a tweetsaying, "Seems like manhandling detainees wasn't enough J&K Police onADG's orders has raided MLA Hostel, Srinagar today and subjected detainees tohumiliating frisking and checking. One assumes, certain J&K Police officersdrunk on newfound power are doing this to settle political scores." Newschannel also confirmed form a close aide of one of the detained leaders whoagreed that some phones reportedly have been taken away.
